Week of May 18- May 22

Congratulations on completing the semester!  This will be the last parent email of our 19-20 school year. Thank you so much for all your support in finishing up this school year.  These are certainly unprecedented times!  We miss ‘normal’ and we miss our kids.  We hope you enjoy your summer.  Please keep encouraging your students to read books.

Enjoy 5th grade graduation…..this is what we are all about. We LOVE our students!  https://youtu.be/V50nU4yaKSk

May 18-22 Student Belongings Pick-Up/School Belongings Drop- off:

During the week of May 18, 2020-May 22, 2020, each GCCS school is allowing students to collect personal belongings and turn in school property.

The Riverside schedule for this event is from 2PM-6PM with grade levels on the following days:

Monday, May 18:  Prek and Kindergarten

Tuesday, May 19:  1st grade

Wednesday, May 20:  2nd grade and 3rd grade

Thursday, May 21:  4th grade

Friday, May 22:  5th grade

Most of the  grade level teachers are planning to come on their designated grade level days.  Please come on the day designated for your grade level.  For those that have students in multiple grade levels, if you are only able to come on one day, please come on the day of your oldest child’s grade.

When you arrive, you will be asked for your students’ name at the entrance of the main front parking lot.  To maintain social distancing, we ask that you stay in your cars.  You will drive around the perimeter along the sidewalk, stopping at the main entrance to drop off all items belonging to the school and then again at the primary entrance to pick up your students’ belongings. Please bring the following items with you to drop off:

  • Bring all school textbooks,  library books, and classroom books
  •         Chromebooks and chargers (for students that are leaving GCCS only)
  •          Transfer forms or any other paperwork that you would like to drop off

Many of our teachers loaned out their personal classroom books so students would have something to read during elearning.  PLEASE make sure these books are returned.  For all textbooks, library books and chromebooks, parents will receive a bill for any of these items not returned.

Yearbook:  Thank you for your yearbook orders.  We do not have an estimated date for delivery yet.  We plan to distribute the books on Back to School night, July 27 from 4-7.  5th grade parents, you are also welcome to come pick up your child’s yearbook that evening. For any yearbooks that are not picked up that night, we will make sure the book gets to you!

Summer Food Service will continue until June 30, 2020:

Greater Clark County Schools and our partners at Aramark are providing free grab & go meals for all children 18 years and under during the district closure.  We will continue next week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only from 10:00a.m.-1:00p.m. Children will receive two breakfast and two lunch meals on Mondays and Wednesdays. Children will receive one breakfast and one lunch on Fridays.

Locations for pick-up are The Mark Fetter Center, Bob Hedge Park, New Washington Middle/High School, Parkwood Elementary and Pleasant Ridge Elementary. To ensure safety and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, meals will be served in a drive-thru fashion.  Families will need to remain in their vehicles as they drive up to pick up meals.
