Week of July 20-24 NEWS

Week of July 20-24 (Monday)

New Faces of Riverside

Riverside is welcoming several new staff members this year.  Our new Administrative Assistant in the office is Susan Proctor.  You may see some of our communications coming with her name on it, or hear her voice on the phone if you are calling school.  Our new Health Assistant is Robbin Caldwell. We also had several retirements at the end of last year.  Mrs. Ashkettle is our new teacher in Kindergarten.  Mrs. McLaughlin is our new teacher in 4th grade and Ms. Janes will be our new speech therapist.  We are so excited to have them as part of our team!

Drive By ‘Meet and Greet’

We are not able to host our normal orientations this year.  Instead, we would like to offer our families the opportunity to meet your new teacher through a ‘drive-by’ time (much as we did when we sent home student materials in May.)  The dates are as follows.

July 24- 4:00-6:00- Kindergarten and Grade 1

July 27- 4:00-6:00- Grades 2, 3, 4, 5

During this time, parents can drop off any ‘community supplies’ from the supply lists, such as wipes or ziploc bags or hand sanitizer. (We know those will be hard to come by, whatever you can give is appreciated!) Please label those items with the teacher name.   Please do not plan to drop off any personal supply items. Students will need to bring personal school supply items in their backpacks on the first day of school. The school supply list is located on the GCCS website.

We will also be verifying transportation and class venue placement (online or traditional). ALL students should plan to come to our drive-by meet and greet, even if you are planning to participate in mySchool online instruction.

Also during the drive-by we plan to distribute yearbooks for anyone that ordered.  We do have a few more to sell.  The cost is $16.

Powerschool and Class Lists

Class lists will be readjusted this week to accommodate those students that are moving to mySchool online.   We hope to have all class lists corrected by the end of this week after these movements are made.  For any student (new or returning) that does not have Powerschool access, we will send letters home with that information during the first week of school.  Teacher assignments will be given when you come to the meet and greet night.

Many adjustments are being made to schedules and our normal routines and procedures to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff. Please watch your email for more information coming this week regarding the opening of school.

Upcoming dates:

July 29- First day of school
