Week of August 31-Sept. 4 NEWS

Week of August 31-Sept. 4

Calendar Changes:

As you know the calendar for traditional students this semester has changed.  Elearning will take place for traditional students beginning this Friday, Sept. 4 through next week, Sept. 8-11 (Monday, Sept 7 is Labor day…no school).  Students in grades 3-5 will have their assignments in google classroom. Grades K-2 will have packets sent home on Thursday.  All students should complete assignments and be ready to turn in by Monday, Sept. 14,  (daily for 3-5).   We are working towards ALL students having lessons on the chromebooks by November.  The staff is continuing to work on improving  Elearning.  Some of our chromebooks have not yet arrived for K-2 but we are hoping to have them soon!

Car Rider parents:  We are so appreciative of how our families are being patient in our car line! It is going very smoothly.  We ask that you approach the line from the Riverside neighborhood direction OR go around the block to get in line.  PLEASE DO NOT use our neighbors’ driveways as a turn around or make an illegal U-turn in the road.  We want everyone to be safe and be kind to our neighbors.  Thank you!

Attendance:

We continue to be grateful for your diligence in following the guidelines for when to keep your child at home with symptoms.  Thank you for calling in when your child will not be at school. We are closely monitoring our attendance.

Just a reminder…If you bring your child late or sign your child out early due to an appointment, please remember to send or fax in the note from the doctor. We can then excuse the tardy. If you notice a tardy on your child’s report card, it could be from arriving late or signing out early. If you have any questions in regards to attendance, please  feel free to call Ms. Jo. 812-288-4868- ex 25218.

Cross Country:  Our Orange and Blue teams will each have a meet.  These will take place on September 22 (Orange) and September 23 (Blue) at 4:45.  Mr. Houston will send home more information at a later time.

Picture Days:  School picture day for traditional students will be Friday, September 18.  Flyers will be coming home soon. MySchool students will have a flyer sent electronically.  Myschool student picture day will be Monday, September 21.  More details for mySchool students will be sent later along with a sign up.

Lunch Menu:

We will no longer be sending home paper copies of the breakfast and lunch menus.  These are available on the Greater Clark website: https://www.gccschools.com/home/our-district/departments/food-services/lunch-menus/

Also, if your child has been on Free and Reduced as a continuation from last year, you MUST fill out a new form for this year.  The last date to do this is September 9.  After this, your child will return to full paid status without another application.

Health Office News:

We are in need of boys and girls size 4-10 shorts and sweatpants (elastic wastebands).  If you have gently used items you’d like to donate, please send in to Mrs. Caldwell our health assistant.

PTO News:  Thank you for your participation in our first restaurant night.  We were able to raise over $250.  Our next restaurant night will be Sept 15 at Rapid Fire Pizza.  Please mark your calendars!  The Riverside staff would like to thank all the parents who sent in items for the staff breakfast on Friday last week.  We appreciate your support!
